What's New in the 2023 Volvo Lineup?
The automotive world is in the midst of a major shift, and 2023 is set to be another banner year in the advancement of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles. Volvo has been at the forefront of this shift, bringing an all-electrified lineup with expanding plug-in hybrid range and a series of all-electric vehicles designed to lessen the environmental impact of our cars while keeping the luxury and elegance you expect. For 2023, you'll find improved plug-in hybrid range and capability, while the EV lineup keeps it's two stylish crossovers.
Volvo Plug-in Hybrid Updates
The plug-in hybrid Volvo models get some big updates for 2023, including the capability for one-pedal driving. This means that while you're in EV mode, lifting off the gas acts as braking, improving power regeneration to assist in keeping your battery powered and reducing the need to use the gasoline engine. One pedal driving can take some getting used to, but the short learning curve is well worth the extended range you get form such aggressive battery regeneration technology. In short, every time you lift, regen takes power from the spinning wheels and converts it to electricity to recharge your battery while you drive. The result is improved EV range in your Volvo Plug-in Hybrid models, with the S60 topping the charts at 45 miles of all-electric power.
You'll find Volvo Recharge Plug-in Hybrid powertrains in a variety of vehicles for 2023, including the Volvo S60 and S90 sedans, the Volvo XC60 and XC90 SUVs, and the Volvo V60 Cross Country and V90 wagons.
Volvo Electric Vehicles
While the lineup of Volvo EVs isn't changing for 2023, the Volvo XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge will see some small updates for the new model year. A new lineup of upholstery options are now available, while the two-tone paint option disappears for the new model year.
For the XC40 Recharge, a new front bumper and grille design give it a more sleek feel, while exterior colors get an update with more modern color options. Tailored wool blend upholstery is an upgraded interior touch unique to the Recharge lineup, and replaces leather as the premium interior choice.
Upgraded Technology
New for 2023, the complete Volvo lineup switches from Sensus infotainment to an Android-based infotainment system. This swap fixes the clunky and confusing nature of the previous system with an easy and intuitive setup that allows for easier navigation of menus with less confusion. You'll still have Apple CarPlay along with Android Auto capability, plus Google Voice Assistant and Google Maps built in to help get from place to place. Live traffic updates now come standard as well, allowing you to better plan alternate routes and get updated travel times on the fly, even as conditions change.
Hands-Free Driving
Volvo Pro Pilot Assist is now available on nearly the full range of new Volvo models, giving you a semi-autonomous driving experience that allows for a more relaxed ride. Let your Volvo read road markings and the vehicles around you with both RADAR and LiDAR-based sensors along with on-board cameras for a safer and more reliable autonomous driving experience.
Model Lineup
The Volvo model lineup doesn't change for 2023, giving you the same blend of sedans, wagons, SUVS, and EVs as in 2022. However, the trim and equipment levels are new, giving you several combinations to work with. Base, Bright, and Dark themes allow you to choose your exterior trim color and finish, while Core, Plus, and Ultimate equipment packages let you have the level of tech and luxury that best fits your lifestyle and budget.
